Jamie Sajdak studied design in England at Nottingham Trent University, where he graduated with First Class Honours. Jamie’s designs aim to bring a sense of sculpture and craft to the modern aesthetic. He takes inspiration from exploration of the process used and tries to marry sustainable ideology with production and aesthetics.
Solar Lamp Shade is made of wood veneer and consists of two shapes appearing to merge together or split apart, conveying a sense of movement. It is a simple prototype design that allows for multiple production options and material choices: the shade can be made from different veneers, the colour of the interior face can be customized, and the shape of each volume may be manipulated to create different forms. Solar Lamp Shade was made as an accompaniment to Nomo’s Eclipse and Orbit designs. (Orbit Coffee Table on view at Odile Chocolat, 829 Dundas St. W.)
