Matthew Chan is a Toronto-based furniture and object designer, currently completing his Craft and Design diploma in furniture at Sheridan College. His motivation to become a designer was sparked from his admiration to draw and sketch anything he wanted. Inspired by designers like Will Alsop, Nendo, and the art of Don Pendleton and KAWS, his work evokes a sense of playfulness and simplicity.

Nathan Clarke is currently completing his Craft and Design diploma in furniture at Sheridan College. Nathan’s work shows reverence for skilled craftsmanship and interest in contemporary design. He strives to create pieces that are both well-made and accessible, and to engage people in deeper conversation about the objects that occupy their homes and workplaces.

Shift is a wall-mounted shelving unit aptly named to describe the user’s ability to configure its shelves to their liking. Two solid maple shelves, differing in length, are joined to the upright by a mating half dovetail, and are locked into place with solid cherry wedges and light pressure. The shorter of the two shelves has a dish routed into its surface, providing a resting place for small items. (Maple and cherry wood)
