Canadian Imperative is a wall installation of plates displayed in an array of mismatched patterns and prints. This limited series presents a personal collection of graffiti, gathered over the last few years in cities across Canada printed onto vintage ceramic plates. These Canadian messages are as stereotypically uplifting, positive and encouraging as one might imagine… “You’re Pretty, relax!”, “Think, You’re Amazing!”, “Allo Soliel” take a new and permanent place on reclaimed Hycroft and Medalta Potteries plates. A daily reminder to look on the sunny side, these pieces embody the persevering Canadian spirit on every level. (Ceramic with in-glaze hand-printed decals)
