Orest Tataryn - Soft Purple Study

Orest Tataryn | Soft Purple Study
Location: Archive, 909 Dundas St. W.

Orest Tataryn is a light sculptor/painter who lives and works in Toronto. His practice centres around the idea of creating static light-coloured environments. He has been experimenting mostly with neon techniques since 1988.

Soft Purple Study is a single cannibalized element from a triptych in which two other panels formed a backdrop for a series of fully dressed neon socks. The three panels interacted well with each other but are equally beautiful standing on their own. The linear abstract composition emulates a layered landscape. The intent of the work is to create a flowing, coloured space with no light source other than itself. (Neon, acrylic plastic, electronics)
