Cott & Reed - The Twins

Cott & Reed (Bettie Cott & Lauren Reed) | The Twins
Location: The Office of Rosario Marchese MPP, 808 Dundas St. W.

Cott & Reed is the collaborative design effort of Bettie Cott and Lauren Reed. The pair met in 2010 at Sheridan College in the furniture design program and became fast friends. Before getting her Craft & Design diploma in furniture last year, Bettie studied Manufacturing Engineering and participated in competitive woodcarving. Lauren has a background in Printmaking from OCAD and has recently graduated from Sheridan College. Their collaborative relationship began during the Capacity 2012 exhibition and shortly after they were asked to participate in the first Night Market event put on by The Stop. Bettie and Lauren have exhibited work together in Toronto and New York and have been featured in Azure magazine and Toronto’s NOW! Cott & Reed is also one of the selected winners of Fab’s Disrupting Design Competition held at ICFF this past May. In the future Bettie and Lauren plan to continue their collaborative work and to participate in design events while developing a small line of functional and conceptual objects.

The Twins and their stumpy legs may appear very similar but are different enough that they can be helpful in multiple ways. While one twin can act as a stool the other can be a side table and sometimes they get along well enough that together they create a bench or coffee table. (Hard maple and upholstered cushions)
